Just 30 Minutes!

Sunday, January 23

I look forward to my morning routine.... coffee, the morning paper (which does not take long to read since I have read online sources before bed), and the morning Sudoku.  I exercise my brain every morning because I read that it stimulates your brain to stay healthy and active in the fight against dementia and other aging issues.  This whole process is 30 minutes.  I do the puzzle in ink to make me think twice before I settle on a number and I always grade my puzzle with a happy face!  There are the mornings that the level 5 puzzle will get the best of me and I have to finish when I return home in the afternoon.  I think about the puzzle during the day realizing I began my day without completing my morning routine.

I have now been faced with the challenge to exercise my body to fight osteoporosis in my right hip. But why do I have such struggles with moving more?  Is it the flashbacks to the one piece knit gym suit that I had to stretch the neck out to step into everyday in PE class or just the lack of emotional commitment?

When I became a lifetime member in 2002, I did not exercise to enhance my weight loss journey.  But I soon discovered that I could not maintain my weight loss without some form of daily activity.  I do enjoy walking so I stepped out and made life inconvienent.  I park and walk, steps instead of elevators, and I exercise during commercials of my favorite shows in the evening.  But now the challenge is to move more!

Get rid of the term exercise if moving more is a challenge for you and get ACTIVE!  What can you do that you enjoy that is above and beyond your normal activity.  Take the stairs and check out the benefit in this issue of WW magazine!  Start by earning 2 activity points a day until you increase it to 6 activity points a day. Remember activity points can be swapped for food or just used to enhance your journey. But more importantly, activity must be something you enjoy and feel comfortable doing!

So the challenge is on....I not only know what I need to do but what I have to do, how about you?  What can you do to move more to enhance your journey? Please share your choice of activity, it may be the inspiration someone else needs to get moving!

Here is a walk down memory lane that will help you to move more at home...
